This is the personal blog of Alan Chavis.
Alan is a software engineer whose career in the computer industry began over 20 years ago. He has worked in the medical software industry for over 10 years and has developed mission critical patient care applications for such companies as GE Healthcare, Agilent Technologies, and Siemens Healthcare.
In the mid-nineties, Alan worked with Data Critical Corporation to develop StatView, a graphical wireless alarm paging system that relays patient ECG data to nurses.
Alan also developed FTP Explorer, a popular FTP client for windows in the mid nineties. FTP Exporer is used by hundreds of thousands of users around the world and remains popular today.
Motorsports has always been an area of interest for Alan, open track road course driving events in particular. In the late 90′s he drove a 1996 Mustang Cobra and documented it’s modification and his experiences on his web site here.
In 2001, he purchased his first Corvette, a 1999 hard top. In 2002, he purchased a 2002 Corvette Z06, which was entered in two consecutive Open Track Challenge events before being traded for his current project, a 2000 Corvette hard top. The Corvette escapades have been documented on his web site here.
Alan plays guitar and his current project is an acoustic trio named Crossing Taylor. Previous bands include Five Shot Victory and The Fury.
